Research Description
My personal history of a combination of training in the computational and medical sciences affords me a unique perspective on the use of health information technology to leverage and transform data into knowledge. Through my research activities, I recognize the potential that electronic health record data offers, and the obstacles to accessing the vast amounts of clinical information that reside in narrative text. My research interests are focused on the development of methodologies to make use of structured and unstructured clinical data to directly improve clinical care for cancer patients.
Clinical Description
I am a board-certified Internist, Hematologist and Medical Oncologist, and I treat patients with lymphoma and related hematologic malignancies.
Research Keywords
Clinical Cancer Informatics; Data Mining; Natural Language Processing; Data Visualization
Clinical Research Keywords
Cancer; Lymphoid neoplasia; Plasma cell neoplasms
